16 Year-Old Job-Seeker Arrested By The Nassarawa State Police Command:
A 16-year-old job-seeker, Esther Yakubu, has been arrested by men of the Nassarawa State Police Command for allegedly being in possession of three guns.
The firearms allegedly belonged to her boyfriend, Manu John, 25, who is at large.
Yakubu said she met John last week Monday in Jos, Plateau State, adding that the fleeing John promised to assist her in getting a job.
She said, “The following day, which was Tuesday, he called me so that we could come to Abuja together.
“I was alone in his room at Mararaba area when policemen came in and searched the place and found three guns hidden in the ceiling and I was arrested.
“I had never set my eyes on him before. We just met at the Jos terminus.”
Confirming the arrest to journalists in Lafia, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kennedy Idirisu, said the suspect was arrested on a tip-off.
Idirisu further revealed that a different team of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in the state on July 19, 2017 intercepted a Bajaj motorcycle with two armed robbery suspects and recovered two AK 47 rifles with live ammunition from them.
They were said to be returning from a robbery operation in Obi and Keana local government areas of the state.
He said one of the suspects escaped through the bush while the other suspect was shot in his right leg while trying to escape.
He added that one AK47 rifle was recovered from him.
